What’s new: fuller protection, and a livelier Spidy
DM all shield, “Check link”, hacked accounts, leaked keys, server protection, anti-raid drill, milestone parties and spectator mode.
This update closes the last gaps we knew about and makes Spider simpler to set up. Here is everything that changes, page by page.
A DM all? DMs get blocked
Spider does not read private messages, but Discord itself spots a mass DM or a raid. The DM all shield reacts at once: it turns on Discord’s DM pause (members who are not friends can no longer message each other) for 6 hours, can also pause invites, and tells the staff with a “Restore now” button. It is on by default when anti-raid is active.
Anti-raid rules also get a new action, Block DMs between members, next to pausing invites.
Check a link before clicking
Right-click a message, Apps › Check link: Spider unfolds short links, looks at the real site without opening it and answers in private. Likely scam, suspicious, known site or no signal, with the reasons (imitation of Discord or Steam, dubious ending, site blocked by the staff…).
Automoderation: fewer gaps
- Edited messages: a “hi” later changed into a scam link is read again and handled.
- Forwarded messages: their text, files and images go through the same rules.
- Hacked accounts: a long-time member posting the same link everywhere gets the copies removed, a short timeout and a private message to secure their account.
- Leaked tokens and keys: a Discord token, API key or password posted by mistake is deleted at once, and never shows in the logs.
- Dangerous files: .exe, .scr, .bat, .apk and password-protected .zip archives.
- Short links: an invite hidden behind a bit.ly is caught.
- Copy to Discord’s AutoMod: a blocked words rule can be copied to Discord, which enforces it even while Spider restarts.
Anti-raid: the whole server protected
A ready-made rule, Server protection, is added in one click. It undoes changes made by a non-exempt account to:
- the server’s name, icon, banner and verification level;
- the custom URL (the owner is also told in private);
- deleted emojis and stickers, recreated by themselves;
- added apps, events in bursts and permanent invites.
Three new modules also watch member activity: voice channel hopping, soundboard spam and reaction spam (with a list of blocked reactions removed at once).
Test your protection safely
The anti-raid drill replays 30 fake accounts with your settings, without sending anything to Discord. Spider shows how many seconds it takes to spot the raid, what is blocked, what gets through and what to change. Start it from the Anti-raid page or with the button of /spidy checkup.
In the same Tools card: cleaning up never-used invites, and Put nicknames back when a raid renamed everyone.
Alerts and channels
- Automatic slow mode: when a channel runs away, Spider sets a 10 second slow mode for 5 minutes, then removes it.
- Ghost pings: someone mentions a member then deletes the message? Spider says who it was, without pinging anyone again.
- Channel opening hours (Night mode page): a channel opens and closes by itself, for example #recruitment from 6 pm to 10 pm.
On Spidy’s side
- Milestone parties: at 100, 250, 500, 1,000 members and beyond, Spider posts a party picture and the server’s Spidy gains XP.
- One-click Spidy pack: the 10 emojis and 5 stickers added to the server from the dashboard home or /spidy emojis.
- Spidy answers when called: write “Spidy” and he sometimes reacts with one of his emojis.
- Duel spectator mode: those not playing follow the scores live and send reactions flying across the screen.
Everything is already available on servers that use Spider. Settings are in the dashboard, and the documentation details every option.
