Before you begin

Use cases.view to read cases and cases.manage for permitted edits or withdrawals. Export tools may also require the export permission.

Step by step

  1. Open Cases or a member’s history. Search for a member, number or reason.

  2. Open a case to review its actor, date, decision and status.

  3. With the required permissions, use the available edit or withdrawal action and provide a reason.

  4. Review the history afterwards to confirm the audit trail.

Understand case states

Applied means the action was confirmed. Pending or needs review requires a check before retrying. Failed means the operation was not confirmed as successful. Withdrawn indicates that the record was revoked using the tool’s supported workflow.

Withdrawing a record does not undo everything

Editing or withdrawing a record does not bring back a kicked member or restore deleted messages. Use the appropriate Discord action to remove a timeout or unban an account, and keep a clear correction reason.

Internal note privacy

Internal notes share relevant information with staff and are not sent to the member. Avoid copying private conversations unrelated to moderation.
