Before you begin

Spider needs Manage Channels (slowmode) and Manage Server (invite pause) for the protections that use them. The page flags missing permissions.

Step by step

  1. Open Protection › Night mode and turn on “Enable night mode”.

  2. Set the schedule: start time, end time, timezone and the nights it applies to (by default midnight to 8 am, every day).

  3. Choose the night protections (see below) and, if needed, the channel to announce the start and end.

  4. Add the roles that are never affected, then save. The top of the page shows the next night.

Channel opening hours

Below the night mode settings, “Channel opening hours” opens and closes a channel by itself: for example #recruitment from 6 pm to 10 pm, or a channel at the weekend only. When closed, @everyone can no longer write in it (or join it, for voice). On opening, Spider only removes what it added, and it can announce the opening and closing in the channel. Spider needs the Manage Roles permission on the channel.

Night protections

  • Slowmode on the chosen channels, with the delay between two messages. The original values are put back in the morning.
  • Links, images and files from new members: removed with a short explanation. A member is “new” if they joined less than N days ago (7 by default).
  • Invites to other servers: removed for everyone except staff.
  • Pause joins: server invites are paused, nobody can join during the night.
  • Stricter anti-raid: join thresholds are halved and more accounts are treated as recent.

Manual control

At the top of the page, “Enable now” starts the night immediately, “Skip this night” skips the next one, and “End now” puts everything back. “Resume schedule” returns to automatic mode. Staff (moderation permissions) is never affected.
