Before you begin

Be the owner of the Discord server.

Step by step

  1. In the dashboard, open Settings › General.

  2. In the Protection lock card, turn on Lock protections.

  3. If needed, add up to 10 trusted people, for example a co-founder or your head of moderation.

Why a lock

On Discord, the Administrator permission grants every right, including on Spider. A hacked administrator account, or a hostile administrator, could switch anti-raid off before acting. The lock prevents that: even with Administrator, only the owner and trusted people can change what protects the server.

What is locked

  • Anti-raid, Shield and turning raid mode off.
  • Automoderation, Captcha, Verification and Alerts.
  • Sensitive permissions, Night mode and Network alerts.
  • Logs and moderation logs.
  • Spider’s groups and permissions.
  • Quick setup, templates, configuration and backup restores, stopping emergency mode.

What stays open

Day-to-day moderation, tickets, community features and statistics work as before. Staff can still turn raid mode on or start emergency mode: only turning them off is locked. The lock applies to the dashboard as well as to /settings in Discord.

Questions and solutions

Can an administrator still kick Spider?

Yes: Discord allows it and Spider cannot prevent it. Turn on Sensitive permissions and monitoring to be warned immediately if a role gets dangerous rights.

Who can remove the lock?

Only the server owner. Trusted people can change protections, but not the lock itself.
